Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) has named Rihanna Davis, a LaFayette High School student who attends the Walker LAUNCH College and Career Academy in Rock Spring, as its 2026 Dual Enrollment Student of the Year.

GNTC's Accelerated Career program has empowered Logan Knight to pursue a career path in information technology after overcoming brain cancer. Logan Knight and his twin sister, Ella, are seniors at Model High School in Rome. He participates in GNTC’s Accelerated Career program, which allows eligible high school students to fast-track their education by simultaneously earning a high school diploma and a minimum of either two technical certificates of credit (TCCs), a diploma or an associate degree.

GNTC is hosting Open Houses at all six campuses to provide an opportunity to learn more about the programs offered at GNTC, tour the facilities and meet faculty and staff. Each Open House event will include registration, a panel discussion, campus tours with program highlights, a presentation highlighting GNTC’s unique benefits and a step-by-step overview of the enrollment process.

Jason Gamel, director of Recruitment at GNTC, was selected as the 2026 Staff Member of the Year Award winner. The award recognizes GNTC staff who make significant contributions to the college and to technical education. Gamel joined GNTC as director of Institutional Advancement in 2006 and became director of Recruitment in 2017.

Dr. Elizabeth Anderson, vice president of Academic Affairs and Institutional Effectiveness at (GNTC) has been named executive vice president and chief academic officer by Dr. Heidi Popham, president of GNTC, effective March 1. In her new position, Anderson will continue to be responsible for Academic Affairs and Institutional Effectiveness and will now also be responsible for Adult Education, Economic Development and Student Affairs.

Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) students excelled at the 2026 SkillsUSA Georgia State Leadership and Skills Conference, Feb. 19-21, in Atlanta. GNTC competed in seven categories and took home two gold medals, four silver medals and one bronze.
Quick Start, stow, GNTC Sign Training Agreement

Georgia Quick Start hosted a training plan signing on January 27, 2026 at 11 a.m. to commemorate its partnership with stow Group and GNTC. The Belgium-based company is investing $36 million to build a new industrial storage and automation solution facility outside of Adairsville, Georgia, and it plans to hire 200 employees for production roles as well as logistics, administrative and management roles.
