The Foundation at GNTC announces the fall 2026 recipients of a scholarship rewarding high-achieving first-generation students that was created in honor of a beloved leader at GNTC. Selena’s Scholarship honors the late Selena Magnusson, who was GNTC’s vice president of Institutional Effectiveness and Student Success. She was employed at GNTC for 26 years in a variety of roles.

One hundred and six students were honored as the fall 2026 inductees into GNTC's chapter of National Technical Honor Society. To qualify for GNTC’s chapter of the NTHS, students must have a GPA of 3.0 and be in good academic, behavioral and financial standing.

GNTC announces President’s and Dean’s Lists for summer 2026

Congratulations to all of our students who made the President’s and Dean’s Lists for the 2026 summer semester! To be eligible for the President’s List, the student must maintain a GPA of 3.8 or higher during the semester with a course load of at least 12 credit hours. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, the student must maintain a GPA of 3.5 to 3.79 during the semester with a course load of at least 12 credit hours.

GNTC receives interactive whiteboard donation for student tutoring sessions

GNTC has received a donated interactive whiteboard, computer and mobile stand to be used at the Academic Support Center on the Floyd County Campus. Designed for classrooms and collaborative workspaces, the whiteboard is a 65-inch, 4K ultra high definition interactive flat-panel display.

GNTC’s Lauretta Hannon releases new book

Lauretta Hannon, executive director of Institutional Advancement at GNTC, has announced a book launch celebration for her spiritual memoir, “A Priest Walks into a Waffle House: Stories from a Gritty, Grace-Filled Life.” The event will take place Thursday, Sept. 10, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Broadview Event Venue, located above the Rome Area History Center, at 300 W. First St., Rome.

GNTC’s Nursing program achieves 100% pass rate
August 28, 2026
All 18 graduates in GNTC's Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program have passed a national nursing licensure exam this year on their first attempt and achieved a 100% pass rate. This year is the fourth consecutive year that 100% of GNTC’s ASN graduates have passed the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) to become a Registered Nurse on their first attempt.

GNTC Nursing student provides support during medical crisis

A GNTC Nursing student recently assisted a patient in medical crisis and comforted his family. Stephanie Wilson, 33, attends GNTC’s Walker County Campus in Rock Spring and expects to graduate with her Associate of Science in Nursing degree in December. Wilson currently is in her third semester of her clinical rotation duties at a hospital in northwest Georgia.

GNTC's Automation Technology program is helping students and graduates energize their careers at Georgia Power. Cesar Cornejo Lopez, instructor of Automation Technology at GNTC, and Automation Technology student Lathe Spivey are among several Southern Company employees who are GNTC students or graduates who work at Georgia Power’s Plant Bowen in Euharlee.

Scholarships support stay-at-home father’s efforts to earn degree at GNTC

Two scholarships awarded through GNTC are helping a stay-at-home father complete his associate degree in Cybersecurity. Greg Huff, who grew up in Chattanooga, attended GNTC’s Whitfield Murray Campus in Dalton and completed his classes in July. A first-generation college student, he and his wife live in Dalton with their 8-year-old son, 3-year-old daughter and newborn son.

GNTC receives donation of personal hygiene items from nonprofit

GNTC has received a donation of personal hygiene items from On My Mother’s Shoulders; a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose goal is to supply basic necessities to college students who are experiencing housing insecurity and financial hardship.

Students earn Spanish CDA credential at GNTC
July 17, 2026
Sixteen graduates received their Spanish Child Development Associate credentials Thursday, July 16, at GNTC and are now qualified to work in Quality Rated Child Care Centers. Offered through GNTC’s Office of Adult Education, the bilingual Child Development Associate (CDA) credential program was held at the Whitfield Murray Campus in Dalton.
