Business leaders, educators, economic development professionals and workforce experts from across Northwest Georgia will gather Oct. 29 for the second annual Northwest Georgia Workforce Summit. Presented by Dalton State College and GNTC, this year’s summit will be held at GNTC’s Gordon County Campus and will bring together leaders from education, industry and government to explore strategies for ensuring Northwest Georgia remains competitive in a rapidly changing economy.

GNTC has announced the fall 2026 recipients of the Roper Corporation Scholarship are Michael Doane and Andres “Chuey” Hernandez. Doane lives in Chickamauga and is a student in the Supply Chain Management and Logistics program at GNTC’s Catoosa County Campus. Hernandez resides in Summerville and studies Automation Technology at the Catoosa County Campus.

Four Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) students have received The Governor Nathan Deal Technical Education Scholarship in recognition of their academic achievement in an industrial or industrial-related program. The scholarship honors former Gov. Nathan Deal for his dedication to technical education in Georgia.

The GNTC Foundation awarded $54,238 in grants and scholarships for fall semester 2026. Grant and scholarship awards ranged between $100 and $1,500 to assist in paying for fall semester at GNTC. Sixty-one grants and scholarships were awarded to 59 students.

The Foundation at GNTC announces the fall 2026 recipients of a scholarship rewarding high-achieving first-generation students that was created in honor of a beloved leader at GNTC. Selena’s Scholarship honors the late Selena Magnusson, who was GNTC’s vice president of Institutional Effectiveness and Student Success. She was employed at GNTC for 26 years in a variety of roles.

One hundred and six students were honored as the fall 2026 inductees into GNTC's chapter of National Technical Honor Society. To qualify for GNTC’s chapter of the NTHS, students must have a GPA of 3.0 and be in good academic, behavioral and financial standing.

Congratulations to all of our students who made the President’s and Dean’s Lists for the 2026 summer semester! To be eligible for the President’s List, the student must maintain a GPA of 3.8 or higher during the semester with a course load of at least 12 credit hours. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, the student must maintain a GPA of 3.5 to 3.79 during the semester with a course load of at least 12 credit hours.

GNTC has received a donated interactive whiteboard, computer and mobile stand to be used at the Academic Support Center on the Floyd County Campus. Designed for classrooms and collaborative workspaces, the whiteboard is a 65-inch, 4K ultra high definition interactive flat-panel display.

Dr. Heidi Popham, president of GNTC, was featured in the latest edition of James Magazine.

Lauretta Hannon, executive director of Institutional Advancement at GNTC, has announced a book launch celebration for her spiritual memoir, “A Priest Walks into a Waffle House: Stories from a Gritty, Grace-Filled Life.” The event will take place Thursday, Sept. 10, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Broadview Event Venue, located above the Rome Area History Center, at 300 W. First St., Rome.
