Two GNTC students were finalists in their competitions at the 2026 Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Collegiate National Leadership Conference, held June 6-8, Jared Weaver placed third in Customer Service. Ashley Weaver placed ninth in Foundations of Entrepreneurship. The Weavers are married and live in Chatsworth, with their daughter, Emily Standridge, who also competed at the national conference.

The Foundation at Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) awarded 48 scholarships totaling more than $37,000 to 47 graduating high school seniors in the northwest Georgia region.

Fifteen students earned their High School Equivalency (HSE) through Georgia Northwestern Technical College’s (GNTC) Accelerated Academy on Thursday, June 11. Twenty-nine students received their High School Equivalency diplomas this week through the Youth Success Academy (YSA) at GNTC. Seventeen students graduated at the YSA Commencement Ceremony at GNTC’s Floyd County Campus in Rome on Tuesday, June 9. Twelve students graduated from GNTC’s Walker County Campus YSA program at Peavine Baptist Church in Rock Spring on Thursday, June 11.

Janie Ruiz, a resident of Rome, received the bronze medal in the Customer Service competition. She studies Business Management at GNTC’s Floyd County Campus.
