GNTC awards 2026 Latin American Association-Mohawk Scholarships

GNTC announced the 2026 recipients of the LAA-Mohawk Scholarship at a recent ceremony held in the Conference Center on the Gordon County Campus in Calhoun. The scholarship, funded by the Latin American Association (LAA) with the sponsorship of Mohawk Industries Inc., supports students engaged in the Hispanic community who reside in Floyd, Gordon, Murray or Whitfield Counties.

Noelia Sargento, a Business Management student from Rossville, was named GNTC's 2026 Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) winner, and Trevor Roberts, clinical coordinator of Ultrasound Programs and instructor of Adult Echocardiography, has been named the college’s 2026 Rick Perkins Instructor of the Year. The winners were named during the Seven Hills Rotary Club meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 27, at the Coosa County Club in Rome.

Faculty and staff at GNTC have nominated six of their peer instructors for the Rick Perkins Award of Excellence in Technical Instruction competition. The Rick Perkins Award honors the TCSG's most outstanding instructors. The award has been an ongoing statewide event since 1991 and is designed to recognize technical college instructors who make significant contributions to technical education through innovation and leadership in their fields.

John Kenyon, assistant director of Marketing and Public Relations at Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC), received the Silver Medallion Award from District 2 of the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) in the Promotional Video-Long Form category.

Three GNTC students have been selected as the college’s finalists for the 2026 Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL). A statewide program of the Technical College System of Georgia, GOAL honors excellence in academics and leadership among the state’s technical college students.

GNTC's Aviation Maintenance Technology program expanded its fleet of aircraft that provide hands-on training to students with the recent donation of a Cessna 401A aircraft. This is the fourth 400 series Cessna airplane GNTC owns and will be used for all aspects of training for the Aviation Maintenance Technology program
Dalton State, GNTC, Murray County Schools, AdventHealth, and Hamilton Medical Center have entered into a new regional partnership.

Dalton State College, GNTC, Murray County Schools, AdventHealth, and Hamilton Medical Center have entered into a new regional partnership designed to strengthen the healthcare workforce pipeline in northwest Georgia. Through a newly signed MOU, the five organizations will work together to expand educational and career pathways for students—particularly those from Murray County—who are pursuing careers in nursing and other high demand healthcare professions.
