Early Childhood
GNTC Public Service Technology programs combine classroom instruction, laboratory practice, and practicum experience to ensure that students possess the most current knowledge and skills required in their chosen profession.
The Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) program is designed to prepare students for rewarding careers working with young children from birth through age eight. Through a balanced combination of evidence-based theory, hands-on learning experiences, and real-world fieldwork, students develop the knowledge, skills, and professional competencies needed to support the growth and development of young children.
The program emphasizes child development, developmentally appropriate practices, curriculum planning, health and safety, family engagement, classroom management, and leadership in early childhood settings. Graduates are well prepared for successful employment in a variety of early childhood education environments, including childcare centers, preschool programs, Georgia Pre-K classrooms, Head Start programs, and other early learning settings, while also building a strong foundation for continued education and career advancement.
GNTC’s Program Pathways can be used as advising guides or maps to help determine which courses they need to take and when to take them. By following the course of study outlined in the specific degree, diploma or certificate pathway, GNTC students will know the necessary prerequisite courses they need to continue in the chosen program of study.

The ECCE program also provides a strong educational foundation for students who wish to continue their education by transferring to a four-year institution to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
