Approximately 300 Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) students crossed the stage of the Dalton Convention Center on Thursday, Dec. 4, to the cheers of their families, friends and instructors.
Matt Bryant, director of Enrollment Services at GNTC, has been recognized for his outstanding commitment, innovation and impact in supporting Student Success.
Bryant recently received the Technical College System of Georgia’s Student Impact Award, which is awarded to one exceptional Student Affairs or Student Services staff member at each TCSG institution.
Nakesia Thomas plans to draw on her own experiences and education from GNTC to help others overcome life’s challenges and achieve their full potential. Thomas, a Rome resident, will graduate with her associate degree in Social Work Assistant and cross the stage at GNTC’s Fall Commencement Ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 4, at the Dalton Convention Center. Her home campus is the Floyd County Campus in Rome.

The scholarship, which honors former Gov. Nathan Deal for his dedication to technical education in Georgia, was established by The Carpet and Rug Institute to reward academic excellence and provide financial support for GNTC students at the Whitfield Murray Campus completing an associate degree, diploma or certificate in an industrial-related program.

Weaver received her High School Equivalency (HSE) through GNTC’s Adult Education program in spring 2024, completing classes at GNTC’s Whitfield Murray Campus (WMC) in Dalton. She expects to graduate with her Accounting degree in spring 2026.
