GNTC's Medical Assisting program successfully passed its recent accreditation site visit with no recommendations from the review team. The program prepares students for employment in a variety of positions in hospitals, physician’s offices, outpatient care and other healthcare facilities.

GNTC is hosting an Open House at all six campuses to provide an opportunity to learn more about the programs offered at GNTC, tour the facilities and meet faculty and staff. The event on Thursday, Oct. 16, will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on each of GNTC’s campuses.

Mary Sharay and Olin Yaoapoqa, Horticulture students at the Floyd County Campus in Rome, have received a Rabbit Valley Farmers Market Scholarship. Scholarship applicants must be planning a career related to farming, gardening, landscape design, environmental issues, floral design or horticulture.

Jesse Nicholson, a Calhoun resident, and Mayahuel Yaoapoqa, a Menlo resident, have received the Gene Haas Scholarship, which rewards academic excellence and provides financial support for students working toward a degree, diploma or certificate in the Precision Machining and Manufacturing program.

The GNTC Foundation has announced that GNTC’s Board of Trustees has been named a 2025 Role Model Board by the Technical College Foundation Association of Georgia. This year marks the fourth consecutive year that the GNTC Foundation has received this honor.

GNTC has named Jake Broome associate vice president of Administrative Services. His responsibilities include preparation and oversight of the financial, budget, purchasing and administrative operations at GNTC; directing the acquisition, tagging and surplus disposal processes of the college’s asset inventory; overseeing student accounts; and overseeing the administration and maintenance of the college’s vehicle fleet.

GNTC has received a donation of 32 student manuals for its Commercial Truck Driving – Class A program. J. J. Keller & Associates Inc. recently notified the GNTC Foundation that it would make a one-time donation of 32 copies of its “Entry-Level Driver Training Obtaining a CDL Student Manual” to the college.

The Foundation at Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) has announced the first recipients of the new Octaviano and Bertha Perez Scholarship. Jesus Arellano and Jackson Woodard—both students in Construction Management at GNTC’s Gordon County Campus in Calhoun—received the scholarship for the fall 2025 semester.
