GNTC's Aviation Maintenance Technology program expanded its fleet of aircraft that provide hands-on training to students with the recent donation of a Cessna 401A aircraft. This is the fourth 400 series Cessna airplane GNTC owns and will be used for all aspects of training for the Aviation Maintenance Technology program

GNTC's Office of Adult Education held its Fall 2025 Graduation Ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 18, for students who have earned their High School Equivalency (HSE) diplomas. The ceremony was held at the Conference Center on GNTC’s Gordon County Campus in Calhoun to accommodate students and families from all nine counties of GNTC’s service area.

Dr. Heidi Popham, president of GNTC, has been selected to serve on the Board of Trustees for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). SACSCOC is the accrediting body for degree-granting higher education institutions in the southern states, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia and Latin America and certain other international sites approved by the SACSCOC Board of Trustees that award associate, baccalaureate, master’s or doctoral degrees.
Jerry Jones Memorial Scholarship 2025

Two GNTC students have received the first Jerry Jones Memorial Scholarship, which provides financial support for students in the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Advanced EMT certificate programs. This scholarship honors the memory of firefighter and EMT Jerry Jones.

Nakesia Thomas plans to draw on her own experiences and education from GNTC to help others overcome life’s challenges and achieve their full potential. Thomas, a Rome resident, will graduate with her associate degree in Social Work Assistant and cross the stage at GNTC’s Fall Commencement Ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 4, at the Dalton Convention Center. Her home campus is the Floyd County Campus in Rome.
