GNTC announces 12 students as the first recipients of the Disabled Veterans Support Scholarship. Funded by voluntary state income tax return donations, the Disabled Veterans Support Scholarship (DVSS) was created to support U.S. military veterans with service-connected disabilities as they pursue technical education in Georgia.

GNTC's Office of Adult Education held its Spring 2026 Graduation Ceremony on Thursday, June 25, for 51 students who have earned their High School Equivalency (HSE) diplomas. The ceremony was held at the Conference Center on GNTC’s Gordon County Campus in Calhoun to accommodate students and families from all nine counties of GNTC’s service area.

Two GNTC students were finalists in their competitions at the 2026 Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Collegiate National Leadership Conference, held June 6-8. Jared Weaver placed third in Customer Service and Ashley Weaver placed ninth in Foundations of Entrepreneurship. The Weavers are married and live in Chatsworth, with their daughter, Emily Standridge, who also competed at the national conference.

Twenty-nine students received their High School Equivalency diplomas this week through the Youth Success Academy (YSA) at GNTC. Seventeen students graduated at the YSA Commencement Ceremony at GNTC’s Floyd County Campus in Rome on Tuesday, June 9. Twelve students graduated from GNTC’s Walker County Campus YSA program at Peavine Baptist Church in Rock Spring on Thursday, June 11.

GNTC student Kristin Garrett has received a $5,000 Advocate Health Community Scholarship to help cover education costs as she pursues an associate degree in Respiratory Care. A resident of Rome, Garrett anticipates graduating in May 2027. She has been employed at Atrium Health Floyd in Rome as a public safety supervisor for more than three years.
