Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) has received a donated interactive whiteboard, computer and mobile stand to be used at the Academic Support Center (ASC) on the Floyd County Campus in Rome.
Newline Interactive Inc. has donated a demonstration unit of a touch display whiteboard, an onboard personal computer and a mobile stand. Designed for classrooms and collaborative workspaces, the whiteboard is a 65-inch, 4K ultra high definition interactive flat-panel display.
The manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the package if new is approximately $10,000; the donation also includes a new accessory box of styluses and cables.
“This new interactive touchscreen display will make each tutoring session much more efficient and productive during student interactions—whether it be in a workshop or an individual student tutoring session,” said Marty Moorehead, coordinator of Academic Support at GNTC. “It represents a huge step forward over the technology we have been using in the ASC lab.”
The interactive whiteboard will be used to enhance the delivery of information and teaching math skill sets during workshops and group study sessions, Moorehead said
“This device goes beyond a simple whiteboard,” Moorehead said. “It can work as a second monitor, allowing the tutor to share his or her screen to its 65-inch display, giving the students the ability to view other media during the sessions. The interactive whiteboard will allow the tutor to save the data written on the display to a PDF file that can be provided to the students.”
The Newline Interactive Inc. whiteboard is the first of its kind at GNTC’s ASC labs, Moorehead said.

Over the past year, 14,082 people benefited from GNTC’s credit and noncredit programs. The college has an annual credit enrollment of 9,342 students and achieved a 100 percent placement rate. An additional 4,740 individuals are served through adult education, continuing education, business and industry training and Georgia Quick Start® programs.
