In accordance with Governor Kemp’s Executive Order, Georgia Northwestern Technical College will remain closed for in-person instruction with limited exceptions through the Spring 2020 semester. In lieu of in-person instruction, GNTC has transitioned to online learning for the remainder of the Spring 2020 semester.

Youth Success Academy

The Youth Success Academy is specifically designed for out of school youth that wish to attain a GED® and a technical education. The participants in the program will be involved in: GED® Preparation, Job Readiness and Workshops and Leadership Activities.

The WIA Youth Success Academy is sponsored through a partnership with GNTC and Northwest Georgia Regional Development Center. Those who are eligible may apply for travel and childcare stipends. Referrals may come through any number of sources, including self-referral.

NOTICE: All program participants must meet eligibility requirements.

Programs Offered


  • Ages 16-24
  • Classroom instruction and support by dedicated professionals
  • Full payment of GED® testing ($160.00)
  • College and Career Counseling
  • $500 after completing your GED® and enrolling at a Georgia college
  • A check for coming to class (for transportation & child care costs)
  • Leadership and Survival Skills

ITA (Individual Training Account) – helps with college expenses

  • Ages 18-24 First time college student
  • Tuition paid for the student (the amount HOPE does not cover)
  • Get paid to go to college (transportation and child care costs)
  • Books and supplies purchased for the student
  • Major must be in an approved demand occupation
  • Leadership and Survival Skills

Work Experience

  • Ages 18-24 Out of School Youth (has obtained H.S. Diploma or GED)
  • Gain Work Experience
  • Learn Fundamental Work Ethics
  • Develop Communication and Teamwork Skills
  • Get paid minimum wage by the YSA
  • Work up to 40 hours / week
  • Work in Work Experience Program for four months
  • May lead to potential employment
  • Leadership and Survival Skills

Short Term Training

  • Ages 18-24
  • Tuition costs paid by YSA
  • Get paid to go to college (transportation & child care costs)
  • Books and supplies purchased for the student
  • Training program must be approved by the YSA
  • Leadership and Survival Skills
