Approximately 300 students from Georgia Northwestern Technical College’s (GNTC) nine-county service area will exit the Dalton Convention Center on Thursday, Dec. 4, armed with the education and technical training needed to kick-start their careers.
The scholarship, which honors former Gov. Nathan Deal for his dedication to technical education in Georgia, was established by The Carpet and Rug Institute to reward academic excellence and provide financial support for GNTC students at the Whitfield Murray Campus completing an associate degree, diploma or certificate in an industrial-related program.
Fourteen students graduated on Wednesday, Nov. 19, from Georgia Northwestern Technical College’s (GNTC) Electrical Lineworker program during a ceremony at GNTC’s Polk County Campus in Rockmart.

Weaver received her High School Equivalency (HSE) through GNTC’s Adult Education program in spring 2024, completing classes at GNTC’s Whitfield Murray Campus (WMC) in Dalton. She expects to graduate with her Accounting degree in spring 2026.
Jayden Allen has been chosen to represent GNTC at the Dinah Culbreath Wayne EAGLE (Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education) Leadership Institute state competition March 9-11, 2026, at the Crowne Plaza Atlanta Perimeter at Ravinia.
