The Automation Engineering Technology program combines mechanical, electrical, process controls, systems, and computer science principles. the core learning components of the program are basic electrical, robots, conveyors, machine vision systems, and control systems which include: programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human machine interfaces (HMIs), and robotic programming. these systems are combined together to make automation processes that can control entire production lines or facilities. A student will begin with the basic understanding of electrical tools and end by creating a full automation system in a capstone project.
GNTC’s Program Pathways can be used as advising guides or maps to help determine which courses they need to take and when to take them. By following the course of study outlined in the specific degree, diploma or certificate pathway, GNTC students will know the necessary prerequisite courses they need to continue in the chosen program of study.
