Career Services

The Office of Career Services offers job search assistance to GNTC students and graduates. Assistance is provided in the following areas: employment leads; on-campus recruiting and interviewing services; resume and cover letter preparation; interview training; career outlook information; and Internet job search information. Career Services staff also works closely with GNTC program faculty and with area businesses and industry to ensure that students and graduates are offered opportunities for employment in their programs of study.

The Career Services Coordinator is located on the Floyd County Campus but is available to visit other campuses as requested. For immediate assistance, please view the Career Guide or select the link below to access Handshake. Resources for resumes, interviewing, and more can be found there under the Career Center.

Not sure where to start with your career plans? This guide walks you through resumes, job searching, interviewing, and what you can do with your major. Use it anytime, at your own pace, and bring it with you to a Career Services appointment if you want extra help. To view the career guide, click on any of the library resource pages below.

Students & Employers:

View our job board, Handshake, to access open positions in our service area. Students can access GNTC’s Career Center through the job board to schedule appointments, access career resources, find employer collections, and see highlighted events.

Employers can connect with GNTC after creating a free profile through Handshake to post current and future positions to our students and alumni.

Career Services also offers TransfrTrek, a hands-on career exploration tool that includes:

  • A shorter career assessment for quick career matching
  • A budgeting tool to help you see how careers connect to real-life expenses
  • Virtual Reality (VR) simulations that show a day in the life of many of our programs and careers
