GNTC celebrates 2024 Georgia Apprenticeship Week
Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC), in partnership with the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), is celebrating Apprenticeship Week in Georgia (Nov. 17-23) by recognizing the value Registered Apprenticeship Programs have in developing a skilled workforce for Northwest Georgia. This year’s Apprenticeship Week celebrates Georgia’s historic investment in apprenticeships through the High Demand Apprenticeship Program (HDAP), which has led to unprecedented growth of apprenticeships throughout the state.
GNTC is one of Georgia’s 22 technical colleges that sponsor registered apprenticeships, making it an integral part of the largest registered apprenticeship network across the state. As a sponsor, GNTC works closely with local businesses to address workforce needs and create career pathways for Georgia’s workforce through the Registered Apprenticeship Program model.
In recent years, GNTC has launched six Registered Apprenticeship Programs, supporting 145 apprentices and partnering with 19 employers. These efforts have been critical to supporting growth across high-demand industries and furthering Georgia’s role as a leader in workforce development.
“GNTC continues to offer apprenticeship opportunities, primarily in industrial maintenance and commercial truck driving, to area employers. This partnership allows an employer to upskill new and incumbent employees into a skilled position thus providing an internal pipeline of talent,” said Angela Berch, vice president of Economic Development at GNTC.
Employers who want to learn more about apprenticeship opportunities are asked to email John Gentry, director of Academic Affairs at GNTC, at jgentry@gntc.edu.
