Online Learning
The online classroom environment involves course work to be completed through the Internet and other technologies for student convenience. Online courses contain the same high-quality learning content as courses taken in the traditional classroom setting. Taking online courses provides students with the opportunity to work, play, and tend to a busy life schedule. Students have the opportunity, between work and ball practice, to complete degrees, diplomas, and technical certificates of credit! Online learning provides students with the opportunity to overcome the limitations of time, distance, and scheduling! Imagine all of the gas that can be saved! Online course-all work is done online; some classes may require proctored work, Hybrid course-at least 50% of the work is done on campus, Web-enhanced course-meets on campus the entire time and some information or work is available online.
Courseware
GNTC uses the ANGEL LMS (A New Global Environment for Learning-Learning Management System) through GVTC (Georgia Virtual Technical Connection) for online course delivery. Pearson's MyMathLab, in conjunction with Angel, is also used for math courses taken online. See requirements on ANGEL page or check your syllabus.
Are You Ready?
Please also take into consideration that online learning is not for everyone. A student taking online classes should be able to work independently with little or no supervision. Students should expect to spend the same amount of time for online courses as they would in a traditional class including homework and study time.
To determine readiness to take online courses students should take the SmarterMeasure Assessment Test.(formerly READI test). The assessment takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.
