Economic Development Services

The objective of the Office of Economic Development of Georgia Northwestern Technical College is to improve workforce skills by delivering short-term, non-credit training to the citizens and organizations of Northwest Georgia. The services include customized industrial and organizational development training, Quick Start training assistance, Continuing Education courses, Georgia Work Ready Profiles, Assessments, Gap Education (ACT Work Keys system), and business start-up assistance at the Business Expansion Center (BEC). The Georgia Retraining Tax Credit program is administered by the Office of Economic Development.

These services are delivered by the Office of Economic Development by:

• Staff participating in the area Chambers of Commerce, local Development Authorities, and the Georgia Economic Developers Association. The staff members are focused on the needs of the area communities and provide a wide range of economic development assistance.
• Providing customized technical and organizational classes at company facilities and on one of the college campuses.
• Offering a wide-range of open enrollment Continuing Education classes on the college campuses and via on-line access.
• Administering the Georgia Work Ready program in Northwest Georgia. The program assist organizations by completing job profiles, individuals by administering Work Keys assessments at multiple locations and by providing gap-education assistance via the Internet and classroom instruction.
• Providing business start-up and development services at the college Business Expansion Center (BEC). These services include office and manufacturing space, business planning, Internet access and office support services.
