Georgia Northwestern Technical College offers a variety of financial aid programs that include grants and scholarships that are non-repayable. We do not participate in any federal or state loan programs.

Federal PELL Grant
If you are enrolled in an Associate Degree, diploma, or Pell-eligible certificate program you may be eligible for the Federal PELL Grant. To determine your eligibility for the Pell grant for these programs you must complete the FAFSA application at Free Application for Federal Student Aid (www.FAFSA.ed.gov) and indicate GNTC's Title IV Code on your application. Our Federal Title IV code is 004024.

Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non citizen
- Must not be in default on a federal loan
- Must not owe a repayment of a grant
- All Males must be registered with the selective service
- Must be enrolled in a Degree, Diploma or Pell-eligible Certificate Program of Study
- Cannot have a Bachelor's degree
Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
If you are enrolled in an Associate Degree, diploma, or Pell-eligible certificate program you may be eligible for the Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant. In order to qualify for Federal SEOG, a student must complete the FAFSA application and must also be eligible for the Federal PELL Grant.
To complete the FAFSA application, go to Free Application for Federal Student Aid (www.FAFSA.ed.gov) and indicate GNTC’s Title IV Code on your application. Our Federal Title IV code is 004024.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non citizen
- Must not be in default on a federal loan
- Must not owe a repayment of a grant
- All Males must be registered with the selective service
- Must be Pell eligible with high financial need
- Must be enrolled in a Degree, Diploma or Pell-eligible Certificate Program of Study
- Cannot have a Bachelor's degree
Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)
If you are enrolled in an Associate Degree, diploma, or Pell-eligible certificate program you may be eligible for the Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG). In order to qualify for ACG, a student must complete the FAFSA application and must also be eligible for the Federal PELL Grant. Some of the eligibility requirements include school certification that the recipients graduated high school after January 1, 2006, for the first year award and January 1, 2005, for the second year award.
To complete the FAFSA application, go to Free Application for Federal Student Aid (www.FAFSA.ed.gov) and indicate GNTC’s Title IV Code on your application. Our Federal Title IV code is 004024.
Other Eligibility Requirements:
- Must meet all eligibility requirements for Pell and be Pell-Grant eligible
- Must be enrolled at least half-time; be enrolled in a Pell Grant-eligible Certificate, Diploma, or Associate Degree program
- Must have graduated from a high school program that was rigorous as defined by the Secretary of Education
- Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA to continue to the second year ACG award
Federal College Work Study (FWS)
This is a needs based federal work program to help students fund educational expenses by providing employment opportunities.
If you are enrolled in an Associate Degree, diploma, or Pell-eligible certificate program you may be eligible to participate in the Federal Work Study Program. In order to qualify for FWSP, a student must complete the FAFSA application.
To determine your eligibility for the FWS you must complete the FAFSA application at Free Application for Federal Student Aid (www.FAFSA.ed.gov) and indicate GNTC’s Title IV Code on your application. Our Federal Title IV code is 004024.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen
- Must not be in default on a federal loan
- Must not owe a repayment of a grant
- All Males must be registered with the selective service
- Must be enrolled in a Diploma or Degree Program of Study
- Cannot have a Bachelor's degree
- Must maintain at least half-time attendance
On campus and a few off campus positions are available to students. Work hours are generally flexible around your academic schedule. A student's work schedule normally cannot exceed 15 hours per week. Wages are never less than minimum wages.
HOPE Grant
The HOPE Grant pays total tuition, mandatory fees (except technology fee) and up to $100 for books for diploma and certificate programs.
To apply you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (www.FAFSA.ed.gov) and indicate GNTC’s Title IV Code on your application. Our Federal Title IV code is 004024. For an alternative, you can apply to www.gacollege411.org for consideration for HOPE funds only.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a resident of Georgia for over 1 year
- Must be a US citizen or eligible non-citizen*
- Must not be in default on a federal loan
- Must not owe a repayment of a grant
- All Males must be registered with the selective service
- Must be enrolled in a Diploma or Certificate Program of Study
- Only pays for classes in your program of study
*You must submit a copy of your permanent resident card to the Financial Aid Office to verify that you are an eligible non-citizen. You must be a permanent resident of the United States for at least one year before you become eligible for the HOPE Grant and a resident of Georgia for at least one year before you become eligible for the HOPE Grant.
Students are able to receive HOPE Grant payment for a total of 95 attempted hours. Attempted hours will include any credits attempted beginning with Summer 2003 Term. If the diploma program is designed to be more than 95 hours the student may receive the grant up to the number of hours required for graduation or a total of 130 attempted hours. HOPE Scholarship
The HOPE Scholarship pays total tuition, mandatory fees (except technology fee) and up to $100 for students seeking a degree. The student must be a 1993 or later high school graduate with a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and be a designated HOPE scholar.
A nontraditional student may qualify for the HOPE Scholarship after completing 45, 90 or 135 quarter hours that will count toward the degree program with a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (To be checked to see if you qualify, contact the Student Activities Office.). To maintain the scholarship, GPA's are recalculated at 45th, 90th, and 135th quarter hours, at which time the student must a 3.0 cumulative grade point average to retain the HOPE Scholarship. GPA's are also recalculated at the end of each Spring term, at which time the student must have a 3.0 GPA. Students who are less than full time and have not completed the first 45 quarter hours, will have their GPA calculated at the end of their third quarter, at which time the student must have a 3.0 GPA.

* You must submit a copy of your permanent resident card to the Student Financial Services Office to verify that you are an eligible non-citizen. You must be a permanent resident of the United States for at least one year before you become eligible for the HOPE Scholarship and a resident of Georgia for at least one year before you become eligible for the HOPE Scholarship.
Students are able to receive HOPE Scholarship payments for a total of 190 attempted hours. If the degree program is designed to be more than 190 hours, the student may receive the scholarships for a total of 225 attempted hours or the number of hours required for graduation, whichever is less.

Outside Scholarships
Students are encouraged to search for and apply to as many scholarships as possible. There are a variety of internet sites available to assist students in the scholarship search process. The Financial Aid Office does not recommend you to use any Scholarship Search that requires a fee. A popular free search is FASTWEB.
