Federal PELL Grant
If you are enrolled in an Associate Degree, diploma, or Pell-eligible certificate program you may be eligible for the Federal PELL Grant. To determine your eligibility for the Pell grant for these programs you must complete the FAFSA application at Free Application for Federal Student Aid (www.FAFSA.gov) and indicate GNTC's Title IV Code on your application. Our Federal Title IV code is 004024.

Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
If you are enrolled in an Associate Degree, diploma, or Pell-eligible certificate program you may be eligible for the Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant. In order to qualify for Federal SEOG, a student must complete the FAFSA application and must also be eligible for the Federal PELL Grant.
To complete the FAFSA application, go to Free Application for Federal Student Aid (www.FAFSA.gov) and indicate GNTC’s Title IV Code on your application. Our Federal Title IV code is 004024.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non citizen
- Must not be in default on a federal loan
- Must not owe a repayment of a grant
- All Males must be registered with the selective service
- Must be Pell eligible with high financial need
- Must be enrolled in a Degree, Diploma or Pell-eligible Certificate Program of Study
- Cannot have a Bachelor's degree
- Registered for at least 12 credit hours
- Must be receiving the maximum Pell amount
Federal College Work Study (FWS)
This is a need based federal work program to help students fund educational expenses by providing employment opportunities.
If you are enrolled in an Associate Degree, diploma, or Pell-eligible certificate program you may be eligible to participate in the Federal Work Study Program.
To determine your eligibility for the FWS you must complete the FAFSA application at Free Application for Federal Student Aid (www.FAFSA.gov) and indicate GNTC’s Title IV Code on your application. Our Federal Title IV code is 004024. You will also need to complete a GNTC Work-Study application. You can pick up the GNTC application in the Financial Aid office on any GNTC campus.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen
- Must not be in default on a federal loan
- Must not owe a repayment of a grant
- All Males must be registered with the selective service
- Must be enrolled in a Diploma, Degree, or Pell eligible Certificate Program of Study
- Cannot have a Bachelor's degree
- Must maintain at least half-time attendance
- Must be receiving Pell
On campus and a few off campus positions are available to students. Work hours are generally flexible around your academic schedule. A student's work schedule normally cannot exceed 12 hours per week. Wages are never less than minimum wages.
HOPE Grant (Beginning Fall Semester 2011)
The HOPE Grant pays 81% (based on the tuition rate for 09/10 year) of the tuition costs for diploma or certificate programs. (This percentage is subject to change year to year.) Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA to be eligible for the HOPE Grant. Student’s GPA will be calculated at the 30th & 60th semester hour. If a student loses the HOPE Grant at a checkpoint, the student can regain it only one (1) time.
To apply you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (www.FAFSA.gov) and indicate GNTC’s Title IV Code on your application. Our Federal Title IV code is 004024. For an alternative, you can check with the Financial Aid Office.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a resident of Georgia for 24 months prior to starting classes
- Must be a US citizen or eligible non-citizen*
- Must not be in default on a federal loan
- Must not owe a repayment of a grant
- All Males must be registered with the selective service
- Must be enrolled in a Diploma or Certificate Program of Study
- Only pays for classes in your program of study
*You must submit a copy of your permanent resident card to the Financial Aid Office to verify that you are an eligible non-citizen. You must be a permanent resident of the United States for at least 24 months before you become eligible for the HOPE Grant and a resident of Georgia for at least 24 months before you become eligible for the HOPE Grant.
Students are able to receive HOPE Grant payment for a total of 95/63 quarter/semester attempted hours. Attempted hours will include any credits attempted beginning with Summer term 2003. For complete details on HOPE program changes please visit the GSFC website at www.gsfc.org.
HOPE Scholarship (Beginning Fall Semester 2011)
The HOPE Scholarship pays 81% (based on the tuition rate for 09/10 year), of the tuition costs for students seeking a degree. The student must be a 1993 or later high school graduate with a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and be a designated HOPE scholar.
A nontraditional student may qualify for the HOPE Scholarship after completing 45/30, 90/60, or 135/90 quarter/semester hours that will count toward the degree program with a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (To be checked to see if you qualify, contact the Financial Aid Office.). To maintain the scholarship, GPA's are recalculated at 45/30th, 90/60th, and 135/90th quarter/semester hour, at which time the student must have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average to retain the HOPE Scholarship. GPA's are also recalculated at the end of each Spring term, at which time the student must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Students, who are less than full time and have not completed the first 30 semester hours, will have their GPA calculated at the end of their third term, at which time the student must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA. If a student loses the HOPE Scholarship at any of the GPA checkpoints, the student can regain the scholarship one (1) time. If a student lost the HOPE scholarship and regained it prior to fall semester 2011 & the student loses the scholarship again, the student can regain the scholarship one (1) time at the next GPA checkpoint.

- Must not owe a repayment of a grant
- All Males must be registered with the selective service
- Must be enrolled in a Degree Program of Study
* You must submit a copy of your permanent resident card to the Student Financial Services Office to verify that you are an eligible non-citizen. You must be a permanent resident of the United States for at least 24 months and a resident of Georgia for at least 24 months before you become eligible for the HOPE Scholarship.
Students are able to receive HOPE Scholarship payments for a total of 195/127 quarter/semester attempted hours. For complete details on HOPE program changes please visit the GSFC website at www.gsfc.org. Hope regulations are subject to change.

Outside Scholarships
Students are encouraged to search for and apply to as many scholarships as possible. There are a variety of internet sites available to assist students in the scholarship search process. The Financial Aid Office does not recommend you to use any Scholarship Search that requires a fee. A popular free search is FASTWEB. Please notify the Financial Aid Office of any outside scholarships you may receive.
