GNTC to hold 2017 Fall Mum Sale throughout September

September 8, 2017

The Horticulture program at Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) will hold a Fall Mum Sale outside of Building L located across from GNTC’s Floyd County Campus throughout the month of September.

The sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. An evening plant sale will take place on Thursdays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. On Fridays the sale will be a half-day from 9 a.m. to noon.

The sale will continue until Sept. 29 or until the mums are sold out.

“We will have six different varieties of mums,” said David Warren, director of Horticulture at GNTC. “There will also be several different kinds of landscape shrubbery such as hollies, camellias, and junipers – but the main thing will be the mums.”

According to Warren, the idea for the sale came about because of the popularity of mums in the fall.

“I wanted to have the students raise a mum crop because I knew people really liked them,” said Warren.

All proceeds from the plant sale will benefit the Horticulture program at GNTC. Purchases may be made with cash or check.
